The town of Erie School Resource Officers, James Alary and Cara Thoen, put together an anti-bullying campaign and planned a day where all the Erie schools could “Stand Up Against Bullying”. On January 16, the School Resource Officers visited all the schools in Erie, including Vista Ridge Academy. The color for the fight against bullying is blue. All students and staffed were invited to wear blue.
The Principal, Sandy Hodgson, spoke to the students about bullying and thanked the Erie Police Department for supporting the school. “Wearing blue to take a stand against bullying is a reminder that we can make a difference in many ways to promote safer communities at school, home, and in our neighborhoods,” said Hodgson.
Students received giveaways from the School Resource Officers. First Grader, Savannah, liked having our resource officers on campus from the Erie Police Department, as “it reminded me that I can stop bullying.”
