The Little Red Hen

The first and second grade class performed “The Little Red Hen” on the evening of Thursday, April 11. Pulling off a stage production is a lot of hard work for this age group! Students begin by learning parts—which helps develop reading skills—and music two months before the performance. Rehearsal times are short to begin with, but during the week of the production, full rehearsals take place figuring out how the whole performance flows on stage with microphones.

Performing helps build confidence. A first grader said, “The play went well. I was nervous, but it went better than I thought it would. It was fun.” Students who may struggle a little with reading or other classroom skills really come into themselves when they get the chance to shine in front of an audience. A second grader said, “The Little Red Hen play was awesome! I can’t believe it is so fun being the Miller.”

Vista Ridge Academy aims for students to strengthen each area of development during their time in elementary school. Giving students a voice through drama and music allows them to develop public speaking skills, memorization, and self- confidence.

This year, some parents brought in baked goods that were auctioned off to raise money for 1st and 2nd grade projects and supplies. The auction brought in over $1,200.

Scholarship Gala

March 28, 2019

Our 1st Annual Scholarship Gala was an amazing success. An event like this hinges on the commitment and efforts of many. Thank you to this year’s Gala Committee, Lisa Barton, Marsha Bartulec, Brittany McLachlan and Courtney McLachlan, for undertaking this effort. Thank you to all our Sponsors and all those that attended and supported our school and Scholarship fund. Special thanks to our live auctioneer, Lonnie Hetterle.

We are looking forward to our 2nd annual Gala in 2020.

At Vista Ridge Academy we provide wholistic Christ-centered elementary education, encouraging children to think creatively and critically, problem-solve and explore, collaborate with others, and develop strong character in accordance with our core values. The diversity of our student body—geographically (from several counties), ethnically, and socioeconomically—is wholly attributable to our Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid to approximately 35 percent of the student body.

The Vista Ridge Academy Scholarship Gala will become a wonderful tradition for our organization. It is a terrific way to enjoy a fun-filled evening while supporting excellence in education in Colorado. Proceeds from the evening’s event are used to help students financially who wish to obtain a Christian education.  Our goal for this year is to increase our overall contributions to our Scholarship fund.

To contribute to our Scholarship fund, contact our office at 303.828.4944 or give online at https://www.firstgiving.com/organization/403634.
